The movie was still immensely entertaining. This Mission: Impossible is just a bland shoot 'em up action film.

I liked the first Mission: Impossible better because it had a more advanced plot. In this movie, Ethan Hunt is once again a secret agent, and he is sent on a mission to stop a crooked agent from stealing a deadly virus for his own use. Now, all there is to do is sit back and watch those classic John Woo action sequences. Everything to do with the plot is laid out for us basically right away. Since John Woo, who is one of the kings of the action genre, took over for Brian De Palma, you can expect Mission: Impossible II to be an intense action movie with a majorly dumbed down plot. Mission: Impossible was a fast paced espionage thriller that actually made you think, which is what I like in a movie. Tom, if your going to make a movie that sucks, please don't try and tarnish a perfectly good Hitchcock in the process. Ingrid having to go under cover and marry the bad guy, who is in love with her. Cary seducing Bergman and then using her in his spy work.

The following parts of Notorious were completely stolen and screwed up by Tom: Cary Grant and Ingrid meeting at the race track and her boy friend becoming suspicious of them. Also This movie is not only awful, it is a total knock off of Notorious by the incredible director Alfred Hitchcock. The tape inside the film's video cassette is to thick to use as dental floss, To long to work as a belt. It has absolutely no redeeming qualities about it at all. Do not see this movie even if Tom Cruise rings your doorbell and threatens to wave his long hair in slow motion as he did so often in film if you don't view it. Or end the last one, depending on how annoying you are about that issue.

Which would have been quite awful way to begin the new millennium. Despite the confusion, this film is still fun to view.No matter how you feel about Jim Carry you should thank him for making the Grinch, because up until that came out M:I2 had been the highest grossing movie of 2000. Note: stick with this film and forget the sequel. John Voight, Emmanuelle Beart, Henry Czerny and Jean Reno make it a fun cast to watch, too. The final action scene with the speeding train and helicopter also is very memorable. That scene with Cruise trying to break into this vault-like room remains as the one of the better tension-filled scenes I've ever witnessed on the big screen. The interesting characters, good cinematography, fun James Bond-like gadgets, just the right amount of action scenes and one very memorable heist scene with Tom Cruise dangling from a wire all make this an enjoyable two hours of entertainment. This isn't an easy story to follow but it gets high marks for keeping it interesting despite that problem. If you get a little confused trying to follow the plot, don't feel stupid. It's about time for another look because it's well-worth it and who knows.maybe I'll finally figure it out! Here's another film I watched when it came out and then later when the DVD was released and enjoyed both viewings, despite the fact I got "lost" several times. After he reported the failed mission, Kittridge (Henry Czerny), the head of the agency, suspects Ethan of being the culprit for the failed mission. Unfortunately, something went horribly wrong and the mission failed, leaving Ethan Hunt the seemingly lone survivor. His wife Claire (Emmanuelle Béart) and his trusted partner Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) were members of Phelps' team. Jim Phelps (Jon Voight) was sent to Prague for a mission to prevent the theft of classified material.
